WP Engine

Enterprise WP host with enterprise pricing

[01] Verdict

WP Engine pioneered managed WordPress and still runs a strong platform — Genesis themes, Local dev tool, EverCache, and solid GCP/AWS infrastructure. The Startup plan is $30/month annual ($360/year).

The issues are recent: pricing creeps every renewal, support quality has slipped since the Silver Lake takeover, and the very public WordPress Foundation feud in 2024 left their relationship with WP.org strained. Overage fees for visits are punitive.

Good platform, no longer obviously the right choice over Kinsta or Cloudways at the same price.
