Cookie Policy.
01What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Cookies let a site recognise your browser across page loads and across visits, remember preferences, sign-in state, and measure traffic.
We also use a small number of similar technologies — local storage entries, anonymous pixel requests, and the browser's sendBeacon click logger — that serve the same purposes as cookies and are governed by this policy.
02Categories of cookies we use
GrabYourDot (operated by Nyhilism, Inc.) groups cookies into four categories. Under the GDPR and similar laws, we require your opt-in consent before setting anything outside the first category.
Strictly necessary
Required for the site to function. These do not require consent.
| Cookie / item | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase | Keeps you signed in to your account. |
| gyd_consent | GrabYourDot | Remembers your cookie consent choices for 6 months. |
| next-* / __Host-* | Next.js / Vercel | Routing, CSRF, secure session metadata. |
Functional
Remember preferences (theme, dismissed banners, sort order). Set only if you accept "Functional" or "All."
| Cookie / item | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| gyd_theme | GrabYourDot | Remembers light/dark/auto preference. |
| gyd_dismissed_* | GrabYourDot | Keeps dismissed notices dismissed across sessions. |
Analytics
Help us understand which pages are read and where readers come from, in aggregate. Set only if you accept "Analytics" or "All."
| Cookie / item | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics 4 | Distinguishes users + sessions for traffic measurement. Expires 13 months. |
| clk_q | GrabYourDot | Outbound-click counter (anonymous, no per-user tracking). |
Advertising
Used by our ad network Nyhilism to render display ads and measure ad performance. Set only if you accept "Advertising" or "All."
| Cookie / item | Set by | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| nyhi_uid, nyhi_* | Nyhilism | Frequency capping, ad rotation, view/click measurement. |
Affiliate links (covered separately in our Affiliate Disclosure) drop first-party cookies only when you click an outbound link. They are set on the merchant's domain, not on grabyourdot.com.
03Your choices
You can change your consent at any time:
- By default, only strictly necessary cookies are set. Everything else stays off until you opt in.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break sign-in or your consent preference.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" under CCPA/CPRA and as a withdrawal of consent for analytics/advertising cookies under the GDPR.
04Cookies set by third parties
Third parties — Google, Nyhilism, and (only when you click their links) affiliate networks — set their own cookies and operate under their own privacy policies. We list the providers we use, and the data we share with them, in section 5 of our Privacy Policy.
05Changes to this policy
We update this page when we add, remove, or materially change a cookie we use. Material changes to the categories that require consent will re-prompt you with the consent banner. Minor wording updates do not.
