1Who we are
In short: GrabYourDot runs the marketplace. We're not the buyer or the seller.
1.1GrabYourDot.com is operated by Nyhilism, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("GrabYourDot", "we", "us"). These Marketplace Terms add to our Site Terms. Where they conflict on a marketplace matter, these terms win.
1.2We provide the listings, checkout, holding accounts and transfer support. Each sale is a contract between the buyer and the seller. We act as their agent to collect, hold and release payment, and as a broker on Escrow.com transactions.
2Your account
In short: one person or business per account, real details, and keep your sign-in safe.
2.1You must be at least 18 and able to enter a binding contract. If you use an account for a business, you confirm you can bind that business.
2.2Keep your email address current. We sign you in by email link, so anyone with access to your inbox can access your account.
2.3Sellers verify their identity with our payment partner before their first payout. We may ask buyers to verify their identity before a purchase of $2,000 or more, or when our fraud checks flag a payment. In sales over $5,000, Escrow.com verifies both sides.
3Listing a domain
In short: only list names you own and can transfer, and keep the price and details honest.
3.1You confirm that you are the registrant of each domain you list, or are authorized by them, and that it is not subject to a dispute, lien, registry hold or expiry before the sale could complete.
3.2A listing goes live after you prove control by adding the DNS record we give you. We may remove a listing at any time, for example if verification lapses or we receive a credible trademark complaint.
3.3Your listed price, accepted offers and lease terms are binding offers to sell. If a buyer pays, you must transfer the domain as described in section 6.
3.4You may list the same domain elsewhere. If it sells somewhere else, remove or pause the listing here straight away. If a buyer pays here for a domain you've already sold, you must cover any costs that causes them and us.
4Buying and offers
In short: an offer is a promise to pay if accepted, and you have 3 days to pay.
4.1An offer is binding for 72 hours, or until the seller declines it or you withdraw it before they answer. Sellers can accept, decline or counter.
4.2When an offer or counter is accepted, you have 3 days to pay. After that the seller may relist the domain and accept other offers.
4.3Check the name before you pay. Domain names are sold as they are. We don't promise any traffic, value, search ranking or freedom from third-party trademark claims.
5Payments and fees
In short: buyers pay the price shown. Sellers pay 8% when the sale completes. We pay the card and escrow fees.
| Sale price | How the buyer pays | Who holds the money | Seller's fee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to $5,000 | Card or bank, on our page | Stripe, for GrabYourDot | 8% |
| Over $5,000 | Wire to Escrow.com | Escrow.com | 8% |
| Lease to own | Monthly card payment | Stripe, passed to the seller monthly | 8% of each payment |
5.1Buyers pay no fees to GrabYourDot. Your bank may charge its own fees, for example for an international wire.
5.2Our commission is 8% of the sale price, deducted before the seller's payout. We pay Stripe's and Escrow.com's fees out of it. We may change the rate for future listings with 30 days' notice. A change never affects a sale already agreed.
5.3Card and bank payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms. Escrow.com transactions are subject to Escrow.com's terms, and GrabYourDot is the broker.
6Transferring the domain
In short: the seller pushes the name to our holding account, we send it to the buyer, the buyer confirms.
- Paid. The buyer pays. The money is held.
- Pushed. Within 3 days, the seller moves the domain to our holding account at their registrar, or gives us a transfer code.
- Sent. We check it and send it to the account the buyer gave us.
- Confirmed. The buyer confirms it arrived, or 5 days pass with no reply. Then the seller is paid.
6.1The buyer must give us the right registrar and account. Once we've sent the domain, we can't change where it goes. A push between accounts can't be reversed.
6.2If the buyer's registrar is different from where the domain is now, we transfer it with a transfer code. Registry rules then usually stop it moving again for 60 days.
6.3The seller must not change the domain's DNS, contacts or lock status in a way that blocks the transfer, and must not try to take it back after the push.
6.4If the seller doesn't push within 3 days, the buyer may cancel for a full refund.
7Lease to own
In short: pay monthly at 0% interest, use the name from month one, and own it after the last payment.
7.1Lease terms are 12, 24, 36 or 60 months, as the seller allows. There's no interest and no fee to the buyer.
7.2After the first payment, the buyer may point the domain at their own website. Ownership moves to the buyer after the last payment, through the steps in section 6.
7.3If a payment fails and isn't made within 15 days, the lease ends. Payments already made are not refunded, and the domain stays with the seller.
7.4The buyer may pay off the rest of the lease at any time.
8Refunds and disputes
In short: if the domain doesn't reach you, you get your money back.
8.1If the transfer can't be completed, we refund the buyer in full and cancel the sale.
8.2Tell us within 5 days of the domain being sent if something is wrong, for example the wrong name, or the domain is suspended. Our transfer team will look into it. Our decision on releasing held money is final between buyer and seller, unless a court or Escrow.com decides otherwise.
8.3A buyer who files a card chargeback after confirming receipt may have their account closed, and we may recover the amount from them.
9Payouts and taxes
In short: sellers set up payouts once, and they're responsible for their own taxes.
9.1Card and bank sales are paid to the seller's bank account through Stripe, which may ask for identity and tax details. Escrow.com sales are paid by Escrow.com.
9.2Sellers are responsible for taxes on their sales. Where the law requires it, we or our payment partners report seller earnings to tax authorities, for example on Form 1099-K in the United States.
10Things you can't do
In short: no fraud, no fake offers, and no going around us to avoid the fee.
10.1You must follow our Acceptable Use rules. In particular, you must not:
- List a domain you don't control, or that infringes someone's trademark.
- Make offers you don't intend to pay, or offers on your own listings to move the price.
- Complete a sale off GrabYourDot with someone you met here, within 12 months of first contact here. If you do, the seller owes our 8% commission.
- Use the marketplace for money laundering, sanctioned parties or stolen domains.
11The transfer assistant
In short: the chat uses AI. It can help and record steps, but a person is always available.
11.1The transfer assistant in your dashboard uses an AI model to answer questions about your sale and record steps such as "I've pushed it". It can make mistakes. Always copy our holding account details from the card it shows, never from typed text.
11.2The assistant can't change prices, refunds or payout details. Choose "Talk to a person" at any time to reach our transfer team. We keep chat messages with the order for support and dispute handling.
12Liability
In short: we're responsible for what we control, up to the fees we earned on your sale.
12.1We aren't responsible for registrars, registries, Stripe, Escrow.com or other services outside our control, or for losses caused by information you gave us that was wrong.
12.2To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any sale is limited to the commission we earned on it, or $100 if we earned none. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law.
13Closing an account
In short: you can leave any time. Sales in progress finish first.
13.1You can close your account from Settings. Live listings are removed straight away. Sales already paid must still be completed.
13.2We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and hold payouts while we look into a problem.
14Law and disputes
In short: North Carolina law applies.
14.1These terms are governed by the laws of North Carolina, USA. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim at home.
14.2Domain name disputes with third parties, such as trademark claims, may also be decided under the registry's dispute policy (for example the UDRP).
15Changes and contact
In short: we'll tell you before terms change, and you can always reach a person.
15.1We'll post changes here with a new "Last updated" date and email account holders at least 30 days before a material change takes effect.
15.2Questions about these terms: support@grabyourdot.com. Legal notices: Nyhilism, Inc., 131 Continental Dr, Ste 305, Newark, DE 19713.
