DreamHostIndie

Independent shared host with a custom panel

[01] Verdict

DreamHost has been doing its own thing since 1996, which is a big plus if you like supporting the little guys that aren't swallowed by some giant corporation. They got this Web Hosting Launch plan that's starting at $2.89 a month if you pay up for the year, but heads up, it's gonna jump to $10.99 a month after that. It's not the worst jump I've seen, but you gotta know it's coming.

They got this custom control panel that you'll either love or hate. If you're just getting started, it might seem cleaner than trying to mess with cPanel, but if you're already used to the standard stuff, it might feel like a hassle. They got WordPress covered, throw in daily backups, and they're serious about keeping your data private, which is cool.

But let's keep it real, the performance ain't gonna blow you away like Hostinger or SiteGround. Plus, no live chat support if you go for the cheapest plan, which can be annoying. And if you're thinking about jumping ship, that custom panel might make it a bit tricky to migrate your stuff elsewhere.
