Firebase Hosting

Google's static + edge-rendered hosting, generous Spark tier

[01] Verdict

Alright, so Firebase Hosting is like that solid hookup from Google if you wanna roll with JAMstack and static sites. The Spark tier's free, and I mean really free, not just the first year then surprise you later. You get 10GB storage and 360MB of bandwidth per day, riding on Google's global CDN. So it's got that backbone. But don't get it twisted, that daily cap might cramp your style if your site gets any traction.

Getting your stuff up there is a breeze with the Firebase CLI. It's fast and simple to deploy, plus you can roll back easy if something goes sideways. Integrates tight with Cloud Functions and Cloud Run too, so if you're into serverless setups with frameworks like Next.js or Angular, you're in good hands. Plus, custom domains and SSL are just handled, no extra thinking required.

But, real talk, watch out for the lock-in with Firebase Auth and Firestore. Once you're in, pulling out ain't as simple. And yeah, it's Google, so there's always that shadow of them shutting things down on a whim, like they did with Firebase Dynamic Links. Plus, if you decide to step up to Blaze, keep an eye on that billing, cause without limits, it can surprise you.
