AWS Amplify Hosting

AWS's Vercel competitor, billed the AWS way

[01] Verdict

Amplify Hosting bills several axes separately: build minutes ($0.01/min after 1,000 free), CDN storage ($0.023/GB after 5GB free), data transfer ($0.15/GB after 15GB free), and SSR requests/duration. The free tier is generous-on-paper but easy to exceed quietly.

Git-based deploys, branch previews, custom domains, and Lambda@Edge SSR all work. Tight integration with Cognito, AppSync, and DataStore is the real selling point if you're using the Amplify framework.

The downsides are pure AWS: console UX is intimidating, bills arrive itemized across services, and a misconfigured site can rack charges across multiple line items. AWS Free Tier is now a 12-month credit ($200 starting July 2025), not perpetual.
