You might snag a .com for as low as $0.99 to $11.99, depending on the week. But real talk, once that promo's over, renewal's gonna hit you at around $21.99 a year, and that's before they tack on those extra fees like ICANN and privacy. By the time you're a couple of years in, you're paying twice what you'd shell out with places like Cloudflare or Porkbun for basically the same thing.

The checkout process is like a minefield of upsells. They got hosting trials, email services, SSL certificates, premium DNS, and even Office 365 trials all pre-selected for you. Saying no ain't easy; you gotta click through maybe five screens to clear it all out. And if you ain't careful, they'll auto-renew your domain and charge your card at the full rate without a heads-up.

Now, GoDaddy's still the biggest registrar by volume, and their infrastructure holds up alright. But the ethical side of things is where they lose points. They got the tools and support, but the way they handle renewals and upsells just ain't cool.
