Newfold-owned legacy brand with the worst .com renewal on this list

[01] Verdict

Network Solutions is like that old diner that used to be the place to eat, but now the food ain't what it used to be. Owned by Newfold Digital, same folks who run Bluehost and HostGator, this legacy brand ain't what it was back in '79. Yeah, they were the first .com registrar, but that's just history now.

First year, you're looking at $10 for a .com, but don't get too cozy. The renewal jumps to a jaw-dropping $35, more than triple the first year. That's the priciest renewal you'll find on this list. And while you’re trying to check out, they hit you with pre-checked add-ons for stuff like SiteLock and Premium DNS, and they got that 5-year auto-renewal switched on by default. WHOIS privacy is bundled in, but that's just to make you feel better about the price hike.

Honestly, there's no good reason to stick around. The legacy name is about the only thing it has going for it. If you want to save some cash, best move your domains elsewhere. You'll be $25 richer per year, per domain. Real talk, sometimes old ain't gold.
