Network SolutionsNewfold

Newfold-owned legacy brand with the worst .com renewal on this list

Network Solutions is owned by Newfold Digital — same parent as Bluehost, HostGator, iPage, Domain.com, and more.See ownership map →
[01] Verdict

Network Solutions is owned by Newfold Digital — same parent as Bluehost, HostGator, Domain.com, iPage, Web.com, and Register.com. .com first year is $9.99, renewal is **$34.99** — a 3.5x jump and the highest .com renewal of any registrar in this list.

The checkout flow is the same Newfold playbook: pre-checked add-ons for SiteLock, "website security," Premium DNS, mailbox bundles, and 5-year auto-renewal toggled on by default. WHOIS privacy is bundled in to justify the price, not given freely.

Network Solutions was once the original .com registrar (Verisign, pre-ICANN) and trades on that legacy name. There is no technical, ethical, or commercial reason to use it today. Transfer your domains out, you'll save $25/year per domain.
