Squarespace Domains

The Google Domains successor, Squarespace-priced

[01] Verdict

So Squarespace went and scooped up Google Domains in 2023, and now it's running the show as Squarespace Domains. If you're looking for a domain registrar, this ain't the cheapest option, but it's straight-up about the $20 a year, every year. None of those sneaky renewal hikes here, which I respect, even if it's pricier than places like Porkbun or Cloudflare.

You get free WHOIS privacy, and the DNS interface is clean, like something you'd expect from Google. It's predictable, no hidden fees or upsells when you're checking out. But, let’s be real, Squarespace is gonna try to sell you on their website builder too, because that’s their main hustle.

The downsides are real, though. After the migration from Google finished, the roadmap for Squarespace Domains kinda hit the brakes. It feels like they treat this as a side gig compared to their main business with the site builder. Some of the old Google Domains features are still around, but they don’t have that same shine. Still, if you vibe with Squarespace and liked what Google had going, this could work for you.
